Assessments for post secondary students

Starting college or university in Edmonton brings new academic demands, and for some students, that shift reveals learning challenges that weren’t addressed in high school. At Randall Symes Psychological Services, our post-secondary assessments help identify the underlying factors behind these struggles, whether it’s a learning disability, ADHD, or another processing difference, and provide clear recommendations and strategies to support a stronger university or college experience.

Helping to identify areas of strength and weakness in your learning profile

Alberta post-secondary students can benefit from our comprehensive assessment services. These assessments can help students succeed academically and socially.

Students who have been identified as having learning difficulties may benefit from a reassessment once they enter post-secondary education while students who have not been formally diagnosed with a disability may enter post-secondary and discover that they are having trouble keeping up.

An undetected learning disability/disorder or ADHD can be one of the greatest challenges to post-secondary student success. Even if a post-secondary student recognizes that they have a learning disability/disorder, they may not have the necessary documentation to qualify for special accommodations and supports at the college or university.

Understanding your unique learning style

Our assessment team is comprised of psychologists specifically qualified to administer individual psychological tests and conduct thorough evaluations in an ethical, efficient, and insightful manner.

We provide clear and concise diagnoses where appropriate and develop detailed and relevant recommendations as well as intervention strategies tailored specifically to each client.

Having a psychoeducational assessment is an important piece to understanding your unique learning style. The assessment will identify your unique strengths and weaknesses and the additional supports and accommodations that may be required to help you succeed. In some cases, students may be provided with extended time for assessments and assignments, a private area to write down exams, and assistive technology.
